It’s taken almost a year to plan and organise, and suddenly it’s all over! We held Chudleigh Literary Festival last Wednesday and the whole day was a great success. Over the next few weeks, various members of CWC will be posting their views of the different elements of the day, but there are a couple of things to say up front.
This was very much an experiment and we learned lessons for the future; but the feedback was very good, both from contenders and audience. Huge congratulations to our first winner, Jean Burnett, but well done to everyone who entered. The pitches were fascinating and all very different.
It’s not a cheap exercise putting on a Festival, even just for a day. So massive thanks to this year’s sponsors: Friends of Chudleigh Library; Chudleigh Town Council; Devon County Councillor Jerry Brook; and Creative Writing Matters. We couldn’t have done it without you.
And now, for something completely different from CWC member, Bea Hutchings…
“If you like a great evening of poetry, entertainment, and fun, there are two events coming up which I can highly recommend as fitting the bill. (not forgetting Big Poetry, which is always a special night, see below). This will be the first time I have headlined at Stanza Extravagnza, and I’m really looking forward to it.
It was a treat to perform at BIG POETRY at the Blue Walnut Cafe, Chelston, Torquay, on Thursday. The brilliant Myriam San Marco headlined, and there was poetry chemistry oozing from all the performers. A lot of us are now busily researching ‘mirror poems,’ which was the form of the first poem in Myriam’s book.
BIG POETRY, Stanza Extravaganza, and Word Cafe, take place once a month.
On Friday 27th July, I am performing a poetry set at the Word Cafe, The Cot Inn , Dartington. (Cott Ln, Dartington, Totnes TQ9 6HE). The incredibly funny and brilliant poet ‘Miserable Malcolm’ is headlining. Plus, a whole host of poetry/music performers from around the South west. Hosted by: Julie Mullen. Starts 7pm.
On Monday 30th July, I am headlining at Stanza Extravaganza Poetry at the Artizan Gallery, Lucius Street, Torquay.TQ2 5UW, plus, a whole host of poetry/music performers from around the South west.
