In August 2008, a group of writers got together to chat about the possibility of setting up a writing group. One month later, the first meeting of Chudleigh Writers’ Circle was held. So tomorrow is our tenth birthday!
It’s been a fascinating ten years, in which we’ve done lots of things both as a group and individually: launched books, produced anthologies, organised Literary Festivals and run competitions. We’ve had some good times and some bad; we’ve lost friends and made new ones. On next week’s blog, founder member, former Chair and current Deputy Chair, Sharon Cook, will be reflecting on our first ten years, so I’m not going to steal her thunder by saying anything more.
I just want to wish Chudleigh Writers’ Circle a very happy birthday and say how much I am looking forward to hearing our special guest speaker, local poet and very funny man, Matt Harvey at our meeting tomorrow. And, of course, to sharing cake and fizz with everyone afterwards.
