The Exeter Literary Festival took place in November, and many members of Chudleigh Writers Circle either attended or were involved in events.
First up was The Write Hub event, hosted by Exeter Writers; a networking get-together with other readers and writers. Much tea was drunk, and cake demolished, (and a little fizz partaken of too). A lot of local writing groups were represented, and it was interesting to hear the different approaches they all have. Steve Male did a grand job of telling everyone about us, while Bea Hutchings and Suzanne McConaghy shone by bagging joint first prize in the literary quiz.
Angela Wooldridge and Elizabeth Ducie had stories in the ‘West Quarter Pop-Up Stories’ event, as two local actresses led an intrepid audience from shop to shop, performing the stories tailored specifically for each establishment.
Elizabeth led a workshop on The Business of Writing at the Barnfield Theatre on the Sunday, and then she and Angela dressed up in prohibition era costume and took part in the wrap party, reading from selected works as part of the banned books quiz.
Unfortunately we don’t seem to have any photos of that – sorry! Above, you can see some of the Chudleigh Writers living it up at the Write Hub event! And if you want to see lots more pictures of all the events, they are on the Exeter Literary Festival website here.
On a completely separate note…
with the advent season approaching, you (or the reader in your life) might be interested in the Indie Authors Advent Calendar; Sign up to get a story a day from writers around the world (one of them our own Angela Wooldridge), on the theme of snow to help get you into the Christmas spirit!
