Lockdown Recipe For Success

Maureen 2

Maureen Boon

This week, CWC member Maureen Boon tells us about the effect of lockdown on her writing life and how she’s used the time to take a different direction.

“Shortly before the lockdown, I visited four local schools around World Book Day. Using my two children’s books, Ant’s Awesome Adventure and Bearly Believable, I carried out storytelling and writing workshops with children from reception to Year 6. I finished a Bearly Believable Colouring Book with local artist Deirdre Stewart, who I had met during the Joint Arts Project. Next I ordered copies of all my books, for a publicity campaign going round the holiday venues, to ask them to market my books. Continue reading

The Encounter

img_1682 (2)Regular readers of the blog will know that last year, members of Chudleigh Writers’ Circle got together with other local writers, photographers and artists to take part in a joint arts project entitled The Art of Collaboration. Manny Lewis was tasked with writing to a photograph of an old man. So accurate and detailed was her writing that the final piece of art was almost a replica of the original image. This week, Manny imagines what might have happened the night these two pictures met. Continue reading

Fireworks and (Some) Success

FireworksIt was a busy night in Teignmouth, and when we saw the crowds of people streaming across the car park, we thought briefly they were all headed for TAAG. But no; we had chosen the date of the annual firework display as the night we would launch our exhibition with a private viewing. So apologies to anyone who struggled with parking. Continue reading
