Monthly Archives: November 2013

Kennings, local history and bedtime stories

Two – yes, two – excellent meetings last week.  Wednesday 20th November was the regular monthly get-together.  Our revered Chair, Sharon,  got us working on “kennings” (dictionary definition: “a much compressed form of metaphor used in Anglo-Saxon and Norse poetry.”) Click  Nov 20 2013 Kennings for Margaret’s report.

Then on Friday 22nd we ran our first “HISTORY AND WRITING DAY” which was a resounding success, such that those who attended want to do it again!

Next time we meet, 18th December,  it will be nearly Christmas at which time Margaret will lead us in considering and writing “Bedtime Stories for Adults”.  Afterwards we stroll down the road for lunch at Anne’s.  Details to follow by e-mail.
